Off-piste skiing

What’s the point in leaving the carefully groomed, marked and secured slopes??
Well… to have the privilege of floating on light, soft snow in a secluded valley, far from the crowds, of course!

Off-piste or freeride skiing gives added emphasis to the thrill of gliding through the snow and/or exploring untouched scenery… And for this, you need good knowledge to be able to « read » the snow, to find the « right slope » and the « right snow ». Unlike ski touring, which can free skiers from having to use ski lifts, freeride skiing starts from the top of the lifts. Walk-ins or traverses are often needed for finding the perfect sensation.

Off-piste skiing requires a good level of general skiing in order to be able to ski on all types of snow. Going off into the mountains requires specific knowledge and experience, especially as regards snow conditions, map reading, weather forecasting, physical condition and knowledge of the local area. Use the services of mountain guidesfor maximum safety!

And available only in Oisans… La Grave – La Meije is a 99.9% off-piste resort.
