There are three ways of getting to the hut:
From Oulles in 2 hours via the hamlet of Le Pouillard. There are wonderful views over the Oisans peaks throughout the climb.
From Ornon, via La Grenonière. Park in the village and follow the GR50 foot path to Basse Montagne, before turning left up to the hut.
Height gain: 730m, hiking time: 2 hours.
From Alpe du Grand Serre, follow the paved road to Le Poursollet. Then take the GR50 foot path to Lac Fourchu. Go around the lefthand side of the lake and up to the Pas de l’Envious, before walking down to the hut. Height gain: 400m.
Hiking time: 2 hours.
The landscape is reminiscent of the northern tundra, with its numerous little lakes and frog ponds. Some retain fossilised tree trunks in their sediment, evidence of the forest in these mountains 6000 years ago. The entire plateau is protected by the European network of outstanding natural environments, Natura 2000.
A word from the hut keeper
Dear friends of the mountain, the Plateau of Le Fourchu, where sleep a hundred lakes, lies at 2000 meters above sea level. Its endemic flora and fauna readily recall the northern tundra landscapes. The refuge of Le Taillefer is located in this unique setting; the path leading to it is accessible for all ages. Indeed, two hours of walking and 400m of height gain, interspersed with stops at the shores of lakes, allow to enjoy nature without forcing.
From the beginning of June, we welcome you with half-board at the refuge.
You can now:
